AmeriTexicanaRockgrass: A lively musical melding of Southern Rock, Outlaw & Texas Country, Americana, Rock and Blues from the 70s to the present all served up with a heaping helping of southern soul and a ton of Texas attitude.
Many of my shows require mostly cover songs, however, with a substantial catalog of original songs, I can cover two solid sets of my own songs as an opening act or headliner at any event with a focus on original music.

Who I am
Hailing from the hill country of south Texas between Austin and San Antonio, I grew up on a steady diet of equal parts ZZ Top and Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Later, living in Georgia, Virginia and the Carolinas, southern rock greats like The Marshall Tucker Band, Allman Brothers and of course, Lynyrd Skynyrd expanded the breadth of Matt’s musical influence well beyond the borders of the Lone Star State. Sprinkle in a little Tom Petty, Rolling Stones and 90’s rock with newer acts like Cody Jinks, Tyler Childers and Whitey Morgan and you have a pretty good idea of where I’m comin’ from.
How I do it
No matter where or when, I arrive with professional gear and a professional attitude. Whether it’s a benefit or a rowdy bar the set will be tailored to fit the moment and the audience.
Since 1996, given a mic and a stage, I’ve played everywhere across the South from bowling alleys, breweries, biker bars, wine shops, coffee houses, concert halls and county fairs to back porch bbq’s. While you’ll hear tunes by all the influences listed above and more, I’ve honed my craft as a songwriter over the years to get you up and dancing or maybe drip a tear in that beer.
